Mission 05

BigQuery & Reporting

We stand up BigQuery as the source of truth for your marketing data — GA4 export, ad platform connectors, Shopify or Magento orders — and build Looker Studio dashboards on top that reconcile to the penny. No more arguing about which tool has the right number.

Common questions

What people ask about bigquery & reporting.

01 Why do I need BigQuery if I already have Looker Studio connecting to GA4 directly?

Three reasons. First, GA4's native connector to Looker Studio samples and rate-limits at scale, so dashboards get slow or wrong. Second, you can't join GA4 data with ad platform spend or Shopify orders in Looker Studio's native connectors — the joins have to happen in a warehouse. Third, GA4's retention is 14 months max; BigQuery retains forever. Once your account is past the hobby stage, BigQuery pays for itself in week one.

02 What does BigQuery actually cost?

For a typical ecommerce account, $20-100/month. Storage is nearly free at marketing-data volumes. Query costs depend on how the dashboards are built — we structure aggregated summary tables specifically to keep per-query costs under a penny. We've never had a client hit surprise BigQuery bills, because architecture prevents it.

03 Can you integrate ad platforms like Meta and Google Ads into BigQuery?

Yes. GA4 exports natively. Google Ads data can be loaded via their Data Transfer Service or Funnel.io. Meta, TikTok, and Microsoft use third-party pipelines — Funnel.io, Fivetran, or Airbyte depending on the account's needs and budget. We pick the simplest option that meets the reporting requirements.

04 Do you build dashboards, or just the warehouse?

Both. The warehouse is useless without reporting on top. We ship Looker Studio dashboards as part of every engagement — typically an executive summary, a channel-by-channel performance view, and operational dashboards for the team actually running campaigns.

05 Can the dashboards reconcile with our finance team's numbers?

That's the point. We build a reconciliation framework that ties marketing-attributed revenue back to actual booked revenue from your order system (Shopify, Magento, custom). Usually there's a 2-5% gap due to refunds, taxes, and cross-channel attribution — we document the gap, its causes, and make the number reconcilable.
